Eat your way to a spring energy boost

Eat your way to a spring energy boost

As we say goodbye to the winter months which are notoriously associated with various health problems and ailments, Spring offers the perfect opportunity to look at ways to improve your overall wellbeing and ‘spring clean’ your system.

Nutrition is essential for good health, and a lack of energy is often a sign that you are deficient in certain nutrients, including vitamins B12, B6, folic acid and iron. Vitamin B12 is particularly important for the changing seasons, as it contributes to a normal energy yielding metabolism, and helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue. A host of celebrities have already caught onto its benefits; both Madonna and Cheryl Cole have been known to give extra attention to this nutrient to keep them on top form throughout gruelling tour schedules.[i]

Whilst you may not be battling such a gruelling timetable, for anyone wanting to escape the winter energy slump, a nutrient rich diet is a great place to start. Sun Chlorella ‘A’ is a natural whole food which contains an amazing quantity and variety of nutrients. In terms of vitamin B12 content alone, a daily dose of Sun Chlorella ‘A’ contains more vitamin B12 than a 32oz steak, and iron content equivalent to nine cups of spinach (270g). Even supermodels rely on the natural wholefood for an instant boost, with Rosie Huntington Whiteley claims that green juice containing chlorella is “a great way to start the day.[ii]

Amongst its health benefits, Sun Chlorella ‘A’ acts as an ‘intestinal broom’, cleansing the bowel by clinging on to toxins like mercury, lead or pesticides in your intestines and then eliminating them as waste. Waste material in the colon impairs our ability to absorb vitamins and minerals which can affect prevent the immune system from working at its optimum level.  This cleansing of toxins can also help with your energy levels!

Chlorella is…
Chlorella is a microscopic freshwater single-celled green algae dating back from approximately 700 million years ago. It has tough outer cell walls and the ability to reproduce itself at an astonishing rate: from four cells on day one to one billion cells on day 15 in cultivation. This special component is called the Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF) and in supplementation, encourages the growth as well as repair of cells and tissues in the body. This process is slowed down by aging but chlorella is believed to help re-stimulate growth.

Sun Chlorella News Issue No.22 Spring 2013

Greetings all!

I wanted to start off this edition of the newsletter to look at one story which has been everywhere in the news of late. The recent scandal following the discovery of horsemeat in cheap, ready-to-eat dishes labelled as beef has really focused the nation on processed foods and made us ask "what’s in our products?!".
Aside from this recent issue, one of the main problems with processed food is that when they are "processed" – which could be to enhance food flavour or increase shelf life - the result is that many healthy nutrients are removed because of this process – and additives such

as fats and sugars are often added as well as artificial chemicals. All this recent talk around horsemeat is another reminder for us all: go "whole food"! See ‘Hot whole food swaps’ for suggestions. This of course includes Sun Chlorella ‘A’ – nature’s version of a multi-vitamin, containing no added ingredients – it’s just fresh-water algae and natural soya protein!

All the best!

The Daily Mail recently reported that supermodel Rosie Huntington- Whiteley is a chlorella fan, and uses the superfood as an ingredient in delicious green juice as “a great way to start the day!”

We also found out Rosie’s secret recipe! To make a morning superfood juice just like Rosie’s, blend the following ingredients with NEW Sun Chlorella    ® ‘A’ Granules: perfect for smoothie making, one sachet contains the equivalent nutrients of 15 Sun Chlorella® ‘A’ tablets.

Did you know that you can eat your way to better energy? Vitamin B12, which is found in meat, eggs, dairy products and Sun Chlorella ‘A’, is not only linked to boosting energy  via helping red blood cell production - but is also related to the immune system and keeping the nervous system (brain, nerves and spinal cord) healthy.

There’s been much confusion around detox diets recently.

The word "detox" means, quite literally, the removal of toxins from the body. Here are just a few common misconceptions.

MYTH: Detox = Fasting Contrary to popular belief, a detox shouldn’t mean starving yourself. Experts suggest eating little and often to combat cravings.

FACT: Curb your salt It’s true that salt is the enemy of the detox.  Salt impairs your body’s ability
